Arjun Raj

I'm Arjun Raj, an actor, musician and director based in Mumbai. Born in Dehradun, raised in Asansol, I moved to Kolkata for college and found my way into theatre through Little Thespian, an Urdu theatre group, working across stage and street theatre.

During the pandemic I trained with Makarand Deshpande and directed and acted in three short films, each earning a Best Actor award on the festival circuit. It confirmed something simple: keep working, even when the circumstances make that hard.

In 2021 I joined Drama School Mumbai for a postgraduate programme in Acting and Theatre Making. Since then I've worked with Australian director Glenn Hayden on Bent (Martin Sherman), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare) and Underground, along with a three-month production-oriented workshop under his direction.

On screen, I've worked on TVCs and digital campaigns for 7UP, Zomato, IKEA, Domino's, Sony PlayStation, Porter and government campaigns, played Abhimanyu in Mahabharata – The Film for the Haryana Museum, and had a cameo in Campus Beats Season 2. A web series and a vertical series are both in post, awaiting release.

As a director, I make theatre for teenagers and school students. I also play guitar and write poetry.

I'm looking for work with strong writing and collaborators who take the material as seriously as I do.
