This directory exists because artists deserve to be found. It is a free, personal, no-algorithm space where casting directors and directors can find you, and where your work speaks for itself. I will be actively promoting this directory so that the right people see it.

If you are working professionally in film or theatre — as a performer, director, writer, designer, composer, filmmaker, or in any other creative role — you are welcome here.

If you've always wanted a basic webpage to use as your profile page, this directory is a no-cost solution.

IMPORTANT: As you are the one uploading information and images, MAKE SURE YOU DO IT WELL! Your page is the first time some directors and casting agents will see you. Make it count....it's your calling card.

The Artists Directory — Guidelines

Please note: Your headshot and project photos, introduction, recent projects, location, special skills, and training details are fixed once submitted. To update any of these, please complete the Profile Update Form. For all other changes, resubmit your full registration and contact us to remove your existing entry. A self-update feature is in development.

1. Eligibility, profile rules & content standards

Eligibility

This directory is open to all artists working professionally in the film and theatre industry. If you are an active professional practitioner — as a performer, director, writer, designer, composer, filmmaker, or in any other creative role — you are welcome here.

Profile integrity

Your profile must represent you as an individual artist. Complete your profile as fully as possible — incomplete profiles may not be published. Optional fields are clearly indicated. Do not submit on behalf of another person. Profiles may be reviewed and removed if found to be inaccurate or misleading.

Content standards

No adult, offensive, or sexually explicit material of any kind. Profiles must be free of discriminatory language or imagery of any kind, including on the basis of gender, religion, caste, ethnicity, nationality, age, or sexual orientation.

2. Writing your profile

General rules

Check your spelling, punctuation, capitalisation, grammar, and URL links carefully. The information you enter will be displayed publicly exactly as submitted. Stay within the character limits for each field. If you exceed the maximum, your information may be cut off.

  • Short introduction: maximum 300 characters

  • Long introduction: maximum 1,300 characters

  • Special skills: maximum 160 characters

Example of a 300 character short introduction:

Mumbai-based actor with fifteen years of stage and screen experience across Hindi, English, and Marathi productions. Trained in physical theatre and classical text, rooted in ensemble performance. Credits include Tata Literature Live, Prithvi Theatre Festival, and independent productions across Mumbai and Pune.

Example of a 1,300 character long introduction:

James Whitfield is a Sydney-based actor with fifteen years of professional experience across theatre, film, and television. Trained at NIDA in physical theatre, classical text, and Stanislavski-based methodology, his practice is rooted in ensemble work and a deep commitment to the craft of performance.

He has worked extensively across Australia and the United Kingdom, performing at major venues including Belvoir St Theatre, Griffin Theatre Company, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His credits span contemporary Australian writing, Shakespeare, and new work, with a particular affinity for character-driven drama and physical storytelling.

On screen, James has appeared in feature films and short films screened at international festivals including Sydney Film Festival and Melbourne International Film Festival. He continues to work across both mediums.

As a teaching artist, James has facilitated workshops in actor training, voice, and movement for undergraduate students and working professionals. He is committed to the development of independent theatre in Australia and to the next generation of practitioners. James is based in Sydney and is available for productions, workshops, and collaborative projects nationally and internationally.

Skills selection

When selecting what you are professionally capable of, choose based on what you can do now — not what you'd like to do.

Recent projects

List up to four, most recent first. One line each — role, production, company or director, year. That's all a casting director needs. No synopses, no reviews.

Training

List your most significant training only — institution or teacher, course, year. Not every workshop you've ever attended. A casting director wants your foundation, not your diary.

Physical details (body type, height, eyes, hair, playing age)

Non-performers can select N/A for physical detail fields that don't apply to their role.

3. Photos & files

Headshot (your main profile photo)

  • JPEG only

  • 4:5 ratio (portrait) — minimum 800 x 1000px, maximum 1200 x 1500px

  • Maximum file size: 5MB

  • Plain or neutral background

  • No selfies, group shots, or cropped images

  • Taken within the last three years

  • One photo only

Your headshot is your calling card. A wrong sized photo could result in your profile not showing. You can resize your image for free at imageresizer.com or squoosh.app.

Project or character images

  • Upload up to six production images

  • Maximum file size: 500KB per image

  • Upload each image one at a time using the Select File buttons

  • Do not paste links or text into these fields

If your images are too large, use squoosh.app or imageresizer.com to reduce file size before uploading.

Resume and Support Material (optional)

The best way to share your resume and support material is as a link you can update yourself at any time — without resubmitting this form.

We recommend creating a Google Doc:

  1. Create your resume or support material in Google Docs

  2. Click Share → Anyone with the link → Viewer

  3. Copy the link

  4. Paste it into the Resume or Support Material URL field on this form

The link will always show your most current version — update your Google Doc anytime and the change appears instantly for anyone who clicks your link.

If using a PDF instead:

Using Google Drive (recommended):

  1. Go to drive.google.com

  2. Click + New → File upload and select your PDF

  3. Once uploaded, right-click the file → Share

  4. Click Change → select Anyone with the link

  5. Click Copy link and paste into the field on this form

Using Dropbox:

  1. Go to dropbox.com and sign in

  2. Upload your PDF

  3. Hover over the file → click Share → Copy link

  4. Paste the link into the field on this form

Using an existing website: Copy the URL from your browser address bar and paste it into the field.

Important: Make sure your link is set to Anyone with the link can view. Test it by opening in a private/incognito browser window before submitting. If it requires a login or password, visitors will not be able to open it.

Combine multiple documents into one PDF using ilovepdf.com/merge_pdf.

4. Links

Instagram, website, resume, showreel, voice demo, portfolio.

  • Submit all links as publicly accessible URLs. Google Drive is preferred for documents.

  • Ensure each link is live and accessible before submitting — broken or restricted links will not be published.

  • Current credits only.

  • Do not write text in URL fields — paste links only.

  • If your URL is too long, shorten it at urlshort.dev.

5. Privacy, submission & prep
