I train actors to be disciplined, employable, and committed artists, with a focus on developing their identity as self-determined, professional creatives.

Ashley Lobo - Artistic Director/Choreographer, The Danceworx and Navdhara India Dance Theatre

My teaching is rooted in over 40 years in the performing arts as an actor and director, following my training at the prestigious WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) of Edith Cowan University
At WAAPA, I studied under masters such as Lisle Jones, Aarne Neeme, Annie Stainer, and Chris Edmunds, following Robert Benedetti’s actor training structure of Stanislavski and his philosophical descendants. Mr Jones' mantra—"Show me, don't tell me"—still guides my work, alongside the teachings of Benedetti, Anne Bogart, Declan Donnellan, Uta Hagen, Cicely Berry, and Stella Adler.

Professional Development
I believe the key to unlocking our full potential as artists—whether in theatre or film—is staying performance fit and open to learning, no matter where we are in our careers.
Artistic growth is a lifelong journey. To thrive, we must continually evolve our craft, seek new challenges, and create our own opportunities while sharpening our competitive edge.
My professional development sessions are designed to support performers at every level—from those just starting out to seasoned professionals looking to refine and recharge.
I’m passionate about working with driven, curious artists.
Mentoring
I have been mentoring emerging actors, designers, directors and stage managers, and fledgling arts companies and in the Corporate Sector for much of my career.
I believe in the power of mentorships and peer mentorships and have personally maintained both for the past 40 years. I believe in the adage that "Everyone knows something and no one knows everything".
My commitment to sustainability, and development and the invaluable importance of the craft and its potential have been unwavering.

The words are not decoration. They are the character, the story, the objective — if you know how to listen to them. This workshop uses great dramatic and poetic texts to explore what sound carries. Consonants, vowels, modulation — not as vocal technique, but as storytelling tools.days

Viewpoints gives actors a language for space, time, shape, and movement. Not as theory — as a way of making decisions in the room. I use Viewpoints as a working tool, not a specialist practice. This workshop reflects that — practical, applied, and grounded in what actually happens when bodies share a stage. You won't leave as a Viewpoints practitioner. You'll leave with something immediately useful.

A cast needs to get to work. Fast. This professional development session uses proven techniques — some familiar, some not — to build the collective trust that lets individual performers commit fully, take risks, and make each other better. Comedy, drama, or anything in between. The work is the same.

Every character lives somewhere between love and hate. The question is whether you can access that truthfully — or whether you're just indicating it. This workshop goes to the emotional core and works from there.

Actor in the Play
A 10 week, 2 days per week, performance based, skills development program exploring differing rehearsal techniques for actors

This immersive workshop provides actors with a focused rehearsal-room environment to examine and refine their craft. Participants will explore the actor’s responsibilities to the rehearsal process, the text, and character development, while aligning with the director’s vision. Emphasis is placed on fostering ensemble collaboration and integrating the actor’s personal creative process within a professional working context. Through guided exercises and rehearsal work, actors will deepen their understanding of how to contribute effectively and dynamically to a collaborative theatrical production. https://www.threeartists.net/actorintheplay

Character Development
An in-depth exploration of an actors' most important task.....find character and tell their story.

Character development is often discussed, but few actors have a comprehensive understanding of the proven techniques required to fully realize a role. This intensive six-day workshop provides an in-depth exploration of the processes fundamental to creating authentic, compelling characters. Participants will engage with a range of practical tools, including script analysis, psychological and physical characterization, emotional truth, and moment-to-moment responsiveness. The program emphasizes the integration of these techniques within the rehearsal room, highlighting the actor’s responsibilities to the text, the director’s vision, the ensemble, and their own creative process. By the end of the workshop, actors will have a robust, actionable toolkit for developing nuanced and dynamic characters in any production context.
